There are some icons that are not specific to any application but
keep appearing, what do they mean?
If the application file contains an icon, the Mizo - Netstats bar will
extract this icon from the application and present it in the Bar.
This icon will appear if the
application in question does not contain any icons. These are most probably
applications associated with the operating system itself, but this is not a
rule. You can terminate their connections or their process.
This icon will appear if the
application associated with this port is a "System Process" protected by
windows. Windows XP will not even tell what this process is. XP Netstats bar
will not allow you to terminate these applications because this may make Win
XP unstable.

This icon will appear if the
connection is not associated with an application. Win XP sometime reports
connections and reports their PID as "0". I guess these are not important
connections, and they tend to disappear after a while. XP Netstats bar
allows you to ignore these icons, you will find this setting in the "Filter"
menu. You can terminate their connections.
The window containg the information box is somewhat SLUGGISH, why?
This happens when the "Resolve Host Names" function is
enabled. Netstats will have to check out every IP address in the box and
translate it into a Url. This take time, especially if the application has
many open connections. If you don't need this feature, disable it.
Netstats bar seems to be making some connections itself, what is it
doing?
Netstats Bar needs to renew the News Ticker every once in a
while, to keep you posted with the latest information. This information is on
the Mizotec website. It will
also update the program statistics at the NedStats website.
These statistics are the same statistics collected from this web page and most
other web pages on the internet.
If you have the "Resolve Host Names" function enabled,
Netstats Bar will also need to open connections in order to find the Url
associated with the requested IP address.
After downloading the new Whois servers list, some of the servers
don't work.
Not all Whois servers stick to the standards, some require
a special way of handling. Netstats Bar just sticks to the standards, it will
try to connect to the server using the standard method, if this fails, try
using another server. The server list is not hosted nor maintained by
Mizotec, it is downloaded from a public Whois server. I
recommend you use the GeekTools Whois server, or the ARIN
server. If the ARIN server has no record of this IP
address, it will tell you were to find more information, like the RIPE
server or the APNIC server.
Known Issues
The system tray icon may freeze when Netstats bar is busy doing
something else. This is because visual basic uses a single threaded module,
therefore all the application processes will have to be done in a sequence.
I can do nothing about this issue.
After installing Mizo - XP Netstats bar, the application will not start.
Go to the directory where the Netstats bar was installed, you will find a
file named xpnsbar.exe.manifest (the file is hidden). Delete
this file and everything should be OK.
This problem has already been fixed before the release of Netstats bar 1.0,
but I thought I should leave this note.
