•  What's so special about using FP Converter?
          FP Converter will convert you FrontPage websites into smaller websites that can be uploaded to any web host using any FTP program.
   

• Does this mean I can use a web host not supporting FrontPage Server Extensions?
          Yes, but you must first make sure you are not using any of FrontPage's extensions in your website.
          So if you are using the FrontPage forms, search, etc... features, FP converter will not work for you.
          You can replace these features by CGI scripts or other free services ll over the net.
          For example :-

  •  Use Atomz to search you website.

  •  Use Bravenet to add feedback forms to your website.

  •  Use Gostats to add a counter for your website.

  •  Please note that these are only examples, there are many more services out there. I just mentioned these because they are the ones I have chosen to use on my website.

•  So what exactly does FP Converter do?
          FP converter will scan through your original website convert it to a smaller website. This is done by removing all of the unnecessary files and directories created by FrontPage.
          Then FP Converter will check your website for any changed, added or deleted files and report them to you.
          This process GREATLY decreases the time you spend updating your websites, because e you only have to upload the changed files.
   

•  Does FP Converter change my HTML code?
          FP Converter  DOES NOT change any of your code. The converted website will look IDENTICAL to the website you have created with FrontPage.
   

•  What is the difference between the "changes.ini" file created in the FTP directory, and that created in the uploads directory?
          The file created in the destination FTP directory is recreated every time you convert your website, thus it will always contain the latest changes only.
      The file created in the Uploads directory contains all of the changes made since the last time this file was deleted. This file should be deleted every time you upload your website to your web host. This way you will always know what files need to be uploaded, even if you have converted you website many times before uploading.
   

•  What version of FrontPage is needed for FP Converter?
          FP Converter should work with all versions of FrontPage, but I've only tested it with FrontPage 2002 running on Windows XP. If you have any problems concerning FP Converter please contact me on My Email .
   

•  So Does this mean that FP Converter will only work with FrontPage?
          FP Converter  is a stand alone application. It was designed for FrontPage, but you can use it on any website created with any other web authoring software. Although there will be no noticeable decrease in the size and number of files in the converted website, FP Converter  will help you manage your website by telling you what files need to be uploaded and what files have been deleted, and which files haven't been changed.
