Scanning a new CD Rom was already discussed
previously.
I will only discuss the options you can use to
scan the CD Rom.
Scan Details
Minimal Details, only scans for file names.
This is the Ultra Fast method but it gives no details at all.
Basic Details, this is the default mode. It
scans for file names, extensions, size, date and attributes. This is fast too.
All Details, this gets the Basic details,
but also scans each file for its internal version information and scans the
files to see how many icons are contained in each file. This process may be a
little bit slow.
Errors
Ignore Errors, if an error occurs
while the CD Rom is being scanned then this error will be ignored and CD
Librarian will continue scanning the remaining files.
Cancel Scanning, if an error occurs
while the CD Rom is being scanned then this error will be reported and CD
Librarian will stop scanning the CD.
Log Errors, if you choose to ignore error
while scanning then CD Librarian can report these errors in the comments section
of the CD. This way the CD will be scanned even though it had some errors, but
the errors will be saved in the CD's comments.
Numbering
Each scanned CD has a unique number. This
number is assigned automatically to the CD when it is being scanned. You can use
this numbering to index your CDs to make finding them easier.
But it happens that you may delete the
entry of a certain CD. In that case its number will be free. CD Librarian keeps
a record of the last number used, and gives you the freedom to use this number
for the CD being scanned or use the first free number that is not in use.
This does not affect the way the database works,
but it might just help you get these CDs organized.
